Government of India to launch location-based app to track COVID-19

India’s coronavirus number stands at 724 as per the latest report. The government of India has released a location-based app called “Corona Kavach” developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for Android and iOS users.

The app is in beta version undergoing final testing before its official release. It is being developed in the public interest to give information and capture the outbreak of Corona Virus. The data will be used to conduct analysis and provide information about the active COVID 19 cases in India.

Around 100,000+ users have already downloaded it. Users need to download from Google Play Store, and then fill out the form with few questions like breathing difficulty, body ache, temperature, travel information, cough condition, etc. Based on the interaction, the app sort users into four categories – from code green means all good, orange to visit doctor, yellow to quarantine and red for infected. It also consists of “kavach” button, after activation it tracks your movement.

The app uses GPS information and depends on data connectivity to provide any precautionary measures. It will help users to stay safe and alert them when in contact with other infected or quarantine users.

It will also track your breathing capacity, many government guidelines and safety recommendation. The app is available in English and Hindi, soon other regional languages will be added.
